The Management of Verona Resort Sharjah organized a cocktail reception on the 18th February 2009 in honour of First Class Cricket Coaching & for Handcross Hornets Cricket Club U.K., Handcross Hornets are competing in Nissan Gulf Cup now a days and won their first two matches.
SHARJAH, Feb. 18, 2009 – In recognition of Verona Resort’s growing presence in and commitment to Sharjah and the UAE, the resort hotel today announced an ongoing marketing and working alliance between the Verona Sports Academy and First Class Cricket Coaching (FCCC), the Sussex (UK) based cricket coaching organisation. FCCC will provide cricket coaching in cooperation with Verona Resort’s sports programme which will also offer hockey and swimming. The cooperation between the two organisations will offer cricket fans and local players an opportunity to sample the highly organised, respected and experienced coaching techniques the FCCC team has to offer.
“In collaboration with the Verona Resort Sharjah, this new alliance offers us a unique opportunity to take our relationship with the resort and its local customers to the next level, by bringing the distinctively FCCC style and experience to life for cricket fans visiting the new Verona Resort”, said Graham Irwin, FCCC’s managing director and ECB (England Cricket Board) coach. “This commitment to the Verona, an organisation that is an integral part of the cultural fabric of the City, is a way FCCC is demonstrating our ongoing commitment to broaden the availability and popularity of cricket to Sharjah and Ajman and the UAE in general”, commented Raj Chaudhuri, FCCC’s Director of Cricket – himself a former 1st class & Ranji trophy player in India’s Bengal Zone and current ECB level III coach. Prior to the first coaching programmes to be introduced later this year, Irwin and Chaudhuri brought a young development team from the U.K. to play in the Nissan Cup in the Under 16 category. Following their first match success against EDT Dubai by 6 wickets the players and accompanying parents are thoroughly enjoying their week’s stay at the Verona and in UAE. The team play three more games to hopefully qualify for the final to be held at Abu Dhabi at the Shk. Zayed Stadium.

Mr. Gerhard Rach - German national is a former hockey coach of Indian national team; Mr. Gerhard Rach German national has wide experience in field hockey, he spent years in hockey coaching, and he worked as national team coach for India, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ghana & Egypt. Mr. Rach has served as German Government Sports advisers for hockey in different countries and for clubs world wide. |
